Site Survey & Risk Mapping

We walk your premises, identify fire risks by area, and recommend extinguisher types, sizes, and quantities aligned with occupancy and activities.

Supply of Quality Units

New extinguishers from trusted manufacturers, correctly colour-coded and selected for the materials and equipment present on site.

Siting & Mounting

Wall brackets, floor stands, and locations that keep units visible, reachable, and clear of obstruction — with proper ID signage above each point.

Staff Awareness

Practical guidance on extinguisher types, when not to fight a fire, and the PASS method so teams know what to do — and when to evacuate instead.

Annual Servicing (BS 5306)

Scheduled inspections, pressure and condition checks, replacement of life-expired units, and certification to keep you audit-ready.

Integrated Fire Package

Combine extinguishers with fire alarms, emergency lighting, and fire risk advice so first-aid equipment sits inside a complete fire safety strategy.

Know Your Fire Classes

The Right Cover for Every Risk Zone

British Standard classifications help match extinguishing media to fuel types. We specify coverage room by room — not a one-size-fits-all corridor kit.

Class A — Solids

Wood, paper, textiles and furnishings. Water and foam are typical first choices for offices, classrooms, and common areas.

Class B — Flammable Liquids

Petrol, solvents, paints and oils. Foam, powder, and CO₂ options depending on the environment and nearby electrics.

Class C — Gases

Flammable gas risks need specialist assessment. We advise on extinguisher suitability and, critically, gas isolation procedures.

Electrical Equipment

Not a formal class, but a daily reality — CO₂ or specialist clean agents protect switchgear, servers, and live equipment safely.

Class F — Cooking Oils

Deep fat fryers and commercial kitchens require wet chemical extinguishers sited where staff can reach them quickly.

Mixed-Risk Zones

Workshops, plant rooms, and warehouses often need multi-risk powder or carefully combined provision — we design the mix.

Visible. Accessible. Serviceable.

Siting That Works When Panic Hits

An extinguisher behind a stack of boxes is worthless. We position units on escape routes and near risk points, with clear signage and unobstructed approach.

  • Mounted at recommended heights with secure brackets
  • Identification signs above every extinguisher point
  • Travel distances planned for realistic response
  • Service labels and records kept inspection-ready

Why Extinguishers Matter

First Aid for Fire — Before It Spreads

Portable extinguishers give trained people a chance to tackle small fires early, protect escape routes, and buy time while the alarm raises the building.

Under UK fire safety law, responsible persons must provide appropriate fire-fighting equipment. That means more than buying a few red cylinders — types must match risks, siting must be practical, and servicing must stay up to date.

We help landlords, facilities managers, and business owners meet those duties with clear recommendations, tidy installation, and annual maintenance that keeps certificates current for insurers and inspectors.

Legal Compliance

Support your duties under the Fire Safety Order with suitable equipment and records.

Early Intervention

Contain small fires before they block escapes or destroy stock and equipment.

Insurance Ready

Servicing certificates and location plans that satisfy inspections and underwriters.

Staff Confidence

Clear labelling and guidance so people know which unit to use — and when not to.

Common Questions

Fire Extinguisher FAQs

Straight answers to the questions we hear most often from facilities managers, landlords, and business owners.

How many extinguishers do I need?

It depends on floor area, layout, occupancy, and fire risks — not a fixed number per building. We survey your premises and recommend types and quantities so travel distances and risk zones are properly covered.

What does BS 5306 servicing involve?

An annual basic service checks that each extinguisher is present, correctly sited, undamaged, within service life, and ready for use. Faulty or expired units are repaired or replaced, and you receive certification for your records.

Can I use any extinguisher on an electrical fire?

No. Water extinguishers must never be used on live electrical equipment. CO₂ is the common choice for electrics; powder can also be suitable in some cases. Correct type selection and staff awareness are essential.

Do commercial kitchens need special extinguishers?

Yes. Cooking oil and fat fires (Class F) require wet chemical extinguishers, correctly sited near the risk. Standard foam or CO₂ alone is not appropriate for deep-fat fryer fires.

How often should extinguishers be replaced?

Service life varies by type and manufacturer, but many units need extended service or replacement after a set number of years. We flag life-expired equipment during annual visits so you stay compliant.

Do you cover Sussex and the wider UK?

Yes. We supply, site, and service fire extinguishers across Sussex and further afield across the UK. Contact us with your postcode for availability and lead times.
